Ina Garten is a popular American cookbook author for a number of decades. Ina is also the Emmy-winning host of Food Networks longest running show Barefoot Contessa that began in 2002. Ina began her writing career by with nuclear energy policy and budgets for the White House. Although she initially found it intellectually stimulating she eventually stopped her interest. Then she bought a Barefoot Contessa a small speciality food retailer. The store was a success for 18 years. the store extremely successful before letting it go and grabbing a pen to begin writing her first book. Then, a number of cookbooks were published and she also wrote magazine columns. Another success was the Food Network Television show. The range of products includes cooking equipment, to food items as well as storage containers. Ina did not go to a cookery school nor was she employed at a restaurant. She is entirely self-taught. Her name is known for her unpretentious approach to entertainment and simple cooking.
